Wednesday 26 June
Many thanks to Basil, who led 19 on a ten mile circular from Mosborough yesterday – via Ford, Ridgeway, and Troway, on a walk defined by pubs as landmarks.
On a fine June day the Peak District doesn’t have a monopoly on good scenery.
At a time when there are plans for big spending on new roads and railways, we need to ensure our footpath network doesn’t disappear. You don’t have to be a Rambler to complain to the County Council to keep things open.

A great June day – the warmest of the year so far.
Mel & Jenny took 18 walkers on the 9:05 bus to Bakewell for a 10 mile circuit via the Monsal Trail and Sheldon.
An unscheduled brief delay in the Headstone Tunnel as we waited for a film crew shooting an insurance advert on the Monsal Viaduct. Something to look for in the future – if you don’t record TV programmes and fast-forward through the commercial bits.
